Re: Which is best? - 18 years ago
Yeah Greece is the Euro.Honestly Lyn save yourself the hassle & just take cash & your card or if you really want to take travellers cheques then any post office should have them, just tell them where you're going & they'll sort it for you.Still say don't bother though, you don't get your moneys worth by changing travellers cheques over there!xby Kerry - Halkidiki
Re: Where is the best part of Halkidiki for a bit of life - 18 years ago
I still say the best places for a Brit to find work are Hanioti,Polichrono,Pefkohori, all very close to each other & have the largest ammount of British tourists! Phil did you know Bubbles had been squished?????????They're re-doing it,hopefully it'll be up & running by the time i get there in June, can't wait to see it!by Kerry - Halkidiki
Re: Which is best? - 18 years ago
Get sterling ones from your local travel agent or post office but remember exchange places in resort usually charge commission when they change them,i've only ever used them once,i prefer to just take cash with me & change it in resort as i need it(usually better exchange rate than here) or take your card & use the atm's!by Kerry - Halkidiki

Re: Getting started for a summer job - PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE HELP!!!! - 18 years ago
Shell i've posted on your other message too.you've got your flight sorted going out right coz of the wedding you're going to?So to come home either ask a rep in whichever resort you choose to work in & see if they can get you a flight home(very resonable)or if you don't mind flying back to Gatwick or something then go to internet cafe & check out BA.com,their site gives you the option ofby Kerry - Halkidiki
Re: Has anyone been to Halikidiki in May - 18 years ago
Iagree May can be a little quiet & very early May some places might not be open but the weather is as steve said nice enough to get a tan but chilly in the evenings but it's never that easy to tell as i've been going for 20yrs & worked there for 6 & some Mays have been scorching & others it's rained constantly so pack a small brolly just in case, never been to fourka but exploringby Kerry - Halkidiki
Re: Best places to look for work in Halkidiki - 18 years ago
You're quite a way out at Sani for looking for work, you really need to get further down the peninsula to Polichrono,Hanioti,Pefkohori area if you want a good chance of finding a summer job which will take time out of your holiday as you'll need to have a think about what sort of work you want to do & then it's a case of just asking around bars, shops, restaurants etc, also bear in mind that notby Kerry - Halkidiki
Re: Kriopigi or Hanioti ? - 18 years ago
Trisha obviously with a little one then yes i'd suggest keeping your room on,remember you need to be at the airport 2 hours before departure so shirley's right, pick up will be about 5-5.30 depending on how many other pick ups it needs to do,if however you decide to get there quickly(no stop offs)& comfortably in an air con taxi then don't book it through your travel company, get your hotel toby Kerry - Halkidiki

Re: WORK IN HALKIDIKI - 18 years ago
Yeah Hot Goblin would be a good place to work, nice size, great food, always busy & i'm sure Leigh would be a fab boss compared to the people that had it when i worked there.xby Kerry - Halkidiki
Re: WORK IN HALKIDIKI - 18 years ago
Jane's right, they're usually in Kalithea, one of the busier resorts so he'll probably be able to pick something up there, mostly Germans,Norwegians etc go there for holidays though so if he can't speak anything other than English he may be better looking for work in Polichrono or Hanioti or there are a couple of big hotels just outside of the main part of Kalithea(near the strip of clubs)that haveby Kerry - Halkidiki
Re: WORK IN HALKIDIKI - 18 years ago
Hi do you know where you're going to be based as it would be better for him to try & get work locally as busses aren't that reliable(especially at the beginning & end of the season) & taxis to & from work could be expensive(unless of course he's going to have a car there)Some jobs come with accomodation but not all but usually if your there for the whole season then there are manyby Kerry - Halkidiki
Re: Clubs near hanioti!!!! - 18 years ago

Re: Clubs near hanioti!!!! - 18 years ago
As far as i know no it's not gone for good, can't see the guys letting that place go but who knows for sure?Had many a fab night in there(the ones i can remember anyway!!!!!) & my mates brother used to work there & he said he heard about it being expanded while he was over there last year,i'm sure if they were letting it go then they would've told him!I get pretty much daily e-mails from fby Kerry - Halkidiki
Re: Clubs near hanioti!!!! - 18 years ago
Bubbles is pretty much a pile of rubble at the mo Sarah, the place next door(not Ahoy......the other side)has gone too, apparently they're extending Bubbles, just don't know when yet.by Kerry - Halkidiki
Re: Clubs near hanioti!!!! - 18 years ago
Well Leigh you know i luuuuuuuuuurvr Bubbles but errrm not sure if it's gonna be there this year as it's currently squished, flat as a pancake, supposedly coming back bigger & better just not sure when.Price wise it's usually 5euros per resort in a taxi so that'd make Hanioti -Kalithea roughly 15euros,to be honest i'm not even sure which clubs are going to be there this year as they frequentlyby Kerry - Halkidiki
Re: Kriopigi or Hanioti ? - 18 years ago
I know of it,looks nice but never stayed there as i don't do package holidays, been visiting & working over there for years so i tend to just get flights & rent rooms when i get over there!Don't know where you've been looking for reviews but 2 of my faves are www.holidaysuncovered.com & www.holidaysexposed.com they seem to have plenty of reviews of most hotels in the Halkidiki area!Migby Kerry - Halkidiki
Re: Kriopigi or Hanioti ? - 18 years ago
reg music bars.......i meant to say it has music barsthat stay open until the early hours...not clubs!!!!!!!by Kerry - Halkidiki
Re: Kriopigi or Hanioti ? - 18 years ago
Kriopigi is lovely but perhaps not best for you, it is a quiet village,a few bars & probably a dozen restaurants also a steep hill to the beach, going down not a problem but at weekends you have to be careful as there can be quite a few cars going down there but there is a mini bus & also a little train that will take you up & down, nothing to entertain little ones either unless googlerby Kerry - Halkidiki
Re: Hanioti for 3 young ladies??? - 18 years ago
OOOOh sounds like "hanioti" has got his sights set on you lot, perhaps best to AVOID the places he's mentioned(i'm presuming it's a he!!!!)Only joking Strand is pretty good place to stay & Hanioti(the resort.......not the person)shouls suit you down to the ground, good mixture of bars restaurants fast food places 24hr beach bar really nice beach & friendly people will ensure you hby Kerry - Halkidiki
Re: rainbow flag - 18 years ago
Very constructive response him!!!!!!!!!Don't worry Jay i'm sure you'll find your fun somewhere, plenty of clubs to visit which get pretty packed at weekends so i'm sure there'll be someone that's willing to fly the flag with you!by Kerry - Halkidiki
Re: hire car - where to go? - 18 years ago
Hiya Polichrono good choice for relaxing break, still plenty of shops bars & restaurants but not too manic. As Jane said best to limit car hire for maybe just one day(seems this is what you were planning anyway),you can explore most of the peninsula in that time then maybe if you find somewhere you really wouldn't mind revisiting then hire again on maybe your last day!The waterpark is pretty clby Kerry - Halkidiki
Re: Kriopigi accommodation message for Kerry - 18 years ago
Hi i really don't think your girlfriend will have a problem finding work when you get there, there are usually waitress jobs but will obviously depend on what languages she can speak as to whether she'll be waitressing or in the kitchens.I can't suggest anywhere specific as i've always worked for the same people & they found me!Best thing is to try & get there a little before the season stby Kerry - Halkidiki
Re: Accomodation and work - 18 years ago
If your boyfriend is going over with you right at the start of the season then he shouldn't have any problem finding work.Is he fussy about which area? He'll have more options if he's not so fussy!Accomodation prices vary but if you go for a private rental then the owners will usualy do you a good deal on monthly rent if you're there for the season!by Kerry - Halkidiki
Re: Kriopigi accommodation message for Kerry - 18 years ago

Re: hotel pegasus- Hanioti - 18 years ago
Sorry to go off the topic again Rosemary but DANIELLE Jane is correct in her pricing of accomodation,i was planning on moving to Halkidiki this year after working 6 summers there & visiting for 20 years & the price i was given to rent an appartment for the FULL YEAR was 2000 euros excluding bills obviously & that's a brand new appartment in a complex with a pool & sea views or theby Kerry - Halkidiki

Re: Hotel angelo - 18 years ago
