General discussion and questions about Halkidiki.
Re: Just got back from Kriopigi - 17 years ago
Hi Sami.Well Kriopigi sounds like a good choice if you want to relax & not too loud but if you do decide you want it a bit livelier then you're only a short taxi ride away from Kalithea which has clubs!Public transport isn't too bad, there are busses which are a cheap way of getting round the peninsula but you have to be a bit flexible as they don't always turn up on time, taxi's are readily avby Kerry - Halkidiki
Re: Weather - 17 years ago
July weather usually getting v hot & lovely but as always you can't predict it,i've never had bad weather in July but there's always the risk of it getting very hot & muggy & then a little storm clears it up but if that happens there's plenty of bars to shelter in,it usually happens over night & doesn't disrupt your holiday!by Kerry - Halkidiki
Re: gyms in hanioti - 17 years ago

Re: Halkidiki & Hanioti - 18 years ago
Hanioti(Halkidiki in general) is fab,end of September will be quieter as the season usually ends first few weeks of Oct but there's still plenty to do.Hanioti has a big choice of cafe/bars,restaurants,music bars etc & is pretty good for shopping too.The weather should still be nice & good enough to get a tan but take something light to cover your arms at night as it can drop a bit chilly!by Kerry - Halkidiki
Re: Just got back from Kriopigi - 18 years ago
Hiya Yeah the Alkion is a really nice hotel, friendly staff & good sized pool & pool bar. Can't comment on the rooms as i've never stayed there but have worked in Kriopigi so i've visited it for a drink!Kriopigi....small place(although by the recent news it's getting bigger by the day)but a good choice of restaurants & fast food places & a lovely crepe shop...does sweet & savourby Kerry - Halkidiki
Re: Halkidiki - SUMMER 2006!!!! - 18 years ago
Hiya again.Makes more sense now you've explained about your notice, that makes it much easier if you have a job to return to.Yes you're right,if you have a bee in your bonnet about this then you must get it out of your system.Shame your boyfriend isn't into it you could have toured the islands picking up work as you go or something, that'd be fun.I really didn't mean to sound as harsh as i probablyby Kerry - Halkidiki
Re: Halkidiki - SUMMER 2006!!!! - 18 years ago
Maria i stayed there too when i worked in Hanioti one year, nice rooms, very quiet & the family are lovely.Michelle don't bother looking for a hotel,i've mentioned it in other posts to you that there are plenty of rooms to rent(cheaper in Hanioti than Kalithea)nearly everywhere you look you'll see rooms for rent, average price at the mo will be anything between 25-35 euros a night! I have to sayby Kerry - Halkidiki
Re: oceania club - 18 years ago

Re: Duty Free Allowance/Tax Free Allowance - 18 years ago
Sure they sell Dunhill over there but be careful of buying at the airport as you can't always get the ones you want, best by far to buy in resort or nearby supermarket, not sure of the cost as it goes up every year but no point shopping round as all of them come in price marked packs so they're the same price regardless of whether you buy them from supermarket, kiosk, local shop etc if the ciggies arby Kerry - Halkidiki
Re: Nightlife /World Cup? - 18 years ago
You're welcome. No i don't live there but i have been going on holidays in Halkidiki for 20 years & i have worked 6 summers there.by Kerry - Halkidiki
Re: Nightlife /World Cup? - 18 years ago
Hi Yes you'll be able to watch the world cup, nearly all the bars have Sky sports so that won't be a problem. Also Kalithea is probably one of the best places for nightlife, plenty of bars that play current music & just outside of the main part there are clubs & bars that stay open until 4-6 a.m that play everything from pop, trance, dance oh god everything!!!by Kerry - Halkidiki
Re: Kriopigi or Hanioti ? - 18 years ago
No afraid not, never "do" hotels i'm afraid as most of the time i rent privately, have you looked on www.holidaysuncovered.com or www.holidaysexposed.com?They're usually the best sites to get reviews on resorts & hotels.by Kerry - Halkidiki
Re: Bubbles - 18 years ago
Mike Yeah i know your dads bar,i've been to work in Kriopigi for years, never been in,have my reasons but i'm not gonna go into it!Is this going to be your first visit over then? When are you going? You got a relative called Emma?Went over to work there a few years ago?Iknow her too so say hi to her from me,i'm Vangelis & Timos's mate.by Kerry - Halkidiki

Re: Kriopigi or Hanioti ? - 18 years ago
Don't know how anyone can write a bad report on Hanioti,it's a brilliant resort with something for everyone & perfect for people with babies & oap's as it's all flat whereas further up the peninsula there are hills to the beach,i'm sure you won't be dissapointed with the place.by Kerry - Halkidiki
Re: Bubbles - 18 years ago
Mike is your dad Ian?Whats happening with the bar this year?Go to the pic album on this site & you can see my pics of Bubbles! It wont look the same this year though as they're modernising.by Kerry - Halkidiki

Re: kalithea????? - 18 years ago
Hi Kalithea is a fab resort but as far as i know there are only a few hotels that cater for British tourists & they're just outside the main part of Kalithea(within walking distance though)mostly Dutch,German,Norwegian,Greek holidaymakers go there & in August it will be busy busy as Halkidiki is where a lot of the Greeks from the city go for their holidays.Loads of restaurants, music bars,by Kerry - Halkidiki
