Hello Helen
Would you have anything for the Oceania Club on 23/07/05 to 06/07/05 (or around these dates), leaving at any London, Stansted or Kent airport.
For 6 people, (4 Adults, 2 kids aged 17 and 14) either sleeping in 2 or 3 bedrooms. We are booked in for these dates ourselves, and friends of ours, are interested in coming with us.
Many thanks

Hello Helen

Hi Helen,

As everyone seems to be singing your praises, I thought hey! let's give Helen ago.

Could you let me know if there are still holidays available for departures on the 25/26 June for 2 weeks, 2 adults and a 4 year old and the total price.

Being a bit of a coward we will be holding off on booking anything until we see the first reports posted.

look forward to hearing from you.

Ian

Hi, just looking for new holidays for 2006, and came across thread. We have just come back yesterday from the Sani Resoprt Beach Hotel, with some people on our flight that when to the Oceania.
At present they are still snagging, but the feeling it would be complete in the next two weeks. It looks very nice from the outside, although their is paint etc on the asphalt outside, and they where working, on what looked like tennis court/basketball fencing. I think anyone going their post completion will have a nice holiday, Sani Beach Resort was excellent and would recommend it.

Does any one know of the name of the 2 6 star hotels in halkidiki, and if they have a website?

Regards

Hi

We are travelling to the hotel in early August, we have 2 children aged 4 & 7 and we would be gratefull for any feedback in respect of the kids clubs, activities on offer for the kids and general overview.

Is there anyone out there that booked a deluxe junior suite and is it worth the extra money ?

I've read your message. Was it really that bad? What were the actual rooms like? I've booked for July, do you think it will be finished by then?

I was there 5 May - 12 May and all I will say is what was finished, was amazing. The food and drink was out of this world. It just wasnt finished! There wasnt enough staff, and those that were there worked all day everyday, and were poorly trained. This will be a fantastic place when finished, I just wish we had waited.

hotel very unreliable with information told us daily that the spa would be ready next day ! - weather mainly good few dull days but no inside pool
! food average buffet style for rating. our room had lots of faults like no water supply 2 days no electricity no telephone line no mini bar oh i could go on forever. end of day they opened before they were ready. staff shell shocked & not enough of them. Would never go back too badly let down for us worst holiday ever for money.

I have just read some reports of the Oceania Hotel Halkidiki and am a bit concerned as to what to expect when we go on 4th July. I have just spoken to my travel agent who wasn't a bit concerned about the fact I had spent £2500.00 on this holiday and didn't seem bothered as to whether the hotel would be ready or not. Please can anyone advise what to do should the hotel not be up to 'scratch'.

Kim

I also have received an email today from Mr Birner, following an email I sent requesting an update on the situation, slight differences of opinion in terms of the information you have been sent. Particularly with regards to the Delux section. We are also arriving on the 23rd May.
Here's what Mr. Briner has said

"Dear Mrs. Cook,

the situation is currently as follows:

- Spa (indoor pool and gym) to open tomorrow

- treatment rooms - some of them in use by today

- Taverna to be opened latest by 30/05/05

- Beach bar to be opened within 3-4 days *

*we provide service for the beverages at the beach as
long as the beach bar is not open.

The missing furniture in the children club is due to be delivered
tomorrow at 14:00h. From Saturday onward the mini club is going
to be fully furnished.

The deluxe wing is not in full operation, about 20 rooms are
used by clients. The remaining ones will go into operation within
the next 7 days.

All other departments are operating.

Please let me assure you that we try to provide the correct dates,
however please keep in mind that we are hotel managers and do
not have the possibility and experience to judge information that
is provided to us by the technical team and engineers on site."

Best regards,
Andreas Birner

We returned on the 16th and a few more facilities were available by then. Nighclub opened on the 14th, boutique on the same day. Still no inside pool, spa or gym. beach bar or Greek restauarant.
Things were getting slightly better every day although the more people arrived the less the staff were coping with clearing tables in the restaurant and servicing the rooms at a decent time of day.
Lots of Health & Safety issues, slippery surfaces,no hand rails on stairs to beach, covers still on the smoke alarms etc. All of this was raised in a long
list by one of the guests and handed directly to the Manager.

On the plus side - beautiful beach complete with free loungers and umbrella's, very good food, friendly and hardworking staff in all areas, a high level of security. And as everybody has said. It will be great when it is fully finished.

We received adequate compensation from the Hotel and hope to return next year to see it fully functioning.
