Re: cheapest way of getting from thessaloniki to hanioti? - 16 years ago
Hi Sam cant believe Maria paid 30 euros, we paid 15 euros each only last year. Which has been the same for the last few years. Me thinks Maria must have paid 15 for the rep and 15 for the driver. Ask a few repsby joanne - Halkidiki
Re: cheapest way of getting from thessaloniki to hanioti? - 16 years ago
The bus will take about three hours tops - or you can hitch hikie - this is very cheap - or if you are at the airport, you can try asking the reps if they have a spare seat on a coach and this will cost you about 15 eurosby joanne - Halkidiki
Re: hanioti - 16 years ago
The dolphins dont tend to come too near land in the summer because of all the noise, from bars jet skis etc, so there probably wont be much chance of seeing them, unless you are quite a way outby joanne - Halkidiki

Re: Sarantis studios - Hanioti - 17 years ago
Jeff is right the waterpark is ok for young children. Though I think teenagers may find it a bit boring, and it is about an hour away from Hanioti by car, longer if you want to do one of the coach trips. The Sarantis is very clean with a salt water pool. We stayed a few years back and found the owners not very friendly, and the son in particular is what the greeks might call a bit of a malby joanne - Halkidiki
Re: Bar On the Beach - 17 years ago
The bar is called Bahalo or something like that. Its the one near the church on the beach, open 24 hrs, with the lights that shine out to sea. At the other end of the beach is the bar that was burnt down. Joanneby joanne - Halkidiki

Re: Hanioti house contents for sale - 17 years ago
Hi Steve if you go to the halkidiki homes site I am sure they will be able to help, I'm not sure if things may have changed since we bought ours. The site is run by Julie who is English and Dimitri, I am sure your friends in Hanioti will know of them. If you are only thinking of a holiday home it may be better to go in with other people. We thought this a good idea in order to keep our hby joanne - Halkidiki

Re: Does anyone need any photography? - 17 years ago
Will keep you in mind for the shower, how good are you at wedding photos . There seems to be lots of people getting married out there, I think Libra organise the weddings. Have a chat to Vicky on this forum who has just married out there.by joanne - Halkidiki
Re: Does anyone need any photography? - 17 years ago
Great idea Nic, could have done with you a while back to take pics of our house. Too late now. Just another idea though, I would have liked some blown up pictures of the scenery, mount olympus, sunrises that sort of thing, you may be able to sell them to hotels and tourists.by joanne - Halkidiki
Hanioti house contents for sale - 17 years ago
Hi all, we have, (had) a house in Hanioti. Well now it has a view of a burnt forest the plans we had to rent it out to pay the bank are all up in smoke you might say. Fed up with beating ourselves up to keep it we are giving up. If anyone knows anyone out there who would like to buy some practicly new furniture, they can have a look on holiday lettings.com. to have an idea of what we haby joanne - Halkidiki
Re: Eating Out Hanioti Style - 17 years ago
You hve to try the cake shop, up from the square. You will see central cafe on the corner and then further up a gym, a little further are the best cakes you will ever taste and chocolate. Very popular with the locals. No sea views though.by joanne - Halkidiki

Re: Hanioti - 17 years ago
Athens is quite a way. There are no organised trips from Hanioti, and if you do visit you would have to stay overnight. Thessalonika is the second largest city in Greece, plenty to do there.by joanne - Halkidiki
Re: Beaches on Kassandra - 17 years ago
Hi Stewart The whole area is about as big as the Isle of Wight, you can follow the main road all the way round so its hard to get lost. Just past the beach at Palliouri and before the village there is a small road on the left that takes you to the end of the peninsular, This is not known to many tourists and is very quiet, should be able to find some secluded spot. Get yourself a map and enjoyby joanne - Halkidiki
Re: In Hanioti now!!! - 17 years ago
So glad your having a great time and all is on schedule for your wedding. If your going past the beer house please say hello to Lorna (daytime). Say hi to Aris at the watersports by the Strand Hotel (big guy), Deano in Paralio by the beach park, some of our lovely friends. Are you staying at the Daphne Hotel, and if so would you mind taking a pic. of the forest to the front of the hotel. Ouby joanne - Halkidiki
Re: Weather in June - 17 years ago
The weather has been very unusual this year, heavy snowfall in January, the rainfall in May ruined the start of the season for many tourists. August saw a heatwave of 42 degrees. Hopefully the local government in Halkidiki will put flood prevention measures in place before the rainy season.by joanne - Halkidiki
Re: Fire in Kassandra - YOUR REPORTS HERE - try to help other people - 17 years ago
Athens News 25th August The belief that arson was a possible cause for the fires was largely dismissed by meterological sources that showed Cassandra being hit by an electrical storm in which more than 13 lightning bolts struck within close proximity of one another at approximately 6 pm shortly before the first flames were spotted. There were strong winds and lightning but no rain said Grby joanne - Halkidiki
Re: Fire in Kassandra - YOUR REPORTS HERE - try to help other people - 17 years ago
The arson report on the fire was as the fire was still burning, and only heresay. More up to date reports have said it may have been the lightning in the area. Fires have been reported in Crete Kefalonia and many other areas of Greece, over the last two weeks. The main cause being lightning. The media does'nt care whether that statement was correct, they only care about the audience ratingsby joanne - Halkidiki
Re: Fire in Kassandra - YOUR REPORTS HERE - try to help other people - 17 years ago
There was no evidence to say this fire was started by arson, as there was lightning in the area that day this is thought to be the cause.by joanne - Halkidiki
Re: Things for kids to do? - 17 years ago
There is a nice playground also, and a nice park near the beach for ball gamesby joanne - Halkidiki
Re: Fire in Kassandra - YOUR REPORTS HERE - try to help other people - 17 years ago
The petrol station on the main road in Hanioti escaped the fire. My friend has children in Hanioti, and the air is fine.If it was not okay tour operators would not be allowed to send people there for their holidays.by joanne - Halkidiki
