Hi, Come up to Newcastle, and just about 10 mins from the town is a place called the MetroCentre, which is a shoppers paradise, hundreds of shops! lol We also have a lot of history sites such as Hadrians Wall, Alnwick Castle and lots others!by lisa - Halkidiki

Re: Beware the "other" forum - 16 years ago
Jane I totally agree with you (I am figaro as well, I have two logins!). I too joined the other forum to join in and at first it seemed as if it would be a good one, but after a while there was nothing new on the site, nothing updated etc and I stopped looking as much on there. Forums, in my opinion, exist so that people can put their opinions "out there", and whether others agby lisa - Halkidiki
Re: Weather!!! - 16 years ago
Thanks holey, I'm off there tomorrow, and if the weather forecast is right we will at least get to see some sun! Its such a beautiful area that I would hate to think that the bad weather had put you off, it certainly doesn't usually rain like it has for you!by lisa - Halkidiki
Re: neriedies hotel hanioti - 16 years ago
Well I am in shock at the prices cosmos are charging, and unfortunately I can't afford to pay them. I suggest we all book with thomson asap as their prices are still halfway decent! AND they still fly from Newcastle, the only "northern" airport apart from Manchester, and the only ones who do now! I'm there tomorrow and I can't wait, but I will be having a word with my friends who oby lisa - Halkidiki
Re: Taverna's in Hanioti? - 16 years ago
I arrive in Hanioti for a week on Monday, usually I travel earlier. I am sure that some places will still be open, especially as it seems that the sun is going to come out again (I hope!) Favourites in Hanioti of mine are tropicana on the square, zorbas, the garden Nice bars are sunshine, kelfos, afros, central cafe and a few others ones around the square where you can sit and people watby lisa - Halkidiki
Re: neriedies hotel hanioti - 16 years ago
Have you tried Cosmos? they are starting to do some hotels in the area- although their prices are ridiculously high! For instance - two weeks self catering = £580 Also try holiday hypermarket.co.uk as they are advertising a lot of the holiday companies on there instead of seraching individual sitesby lisa - Halkidiki

Re: Weather!!! - 16 years ago
Jane, I'm a regular on this site and I have always found your tips great! I'm arriving on Monday, does the weather look like its improving? it seems to be from what I can tell on various weather sites but I thought that seeing as you are there you would be a good person to ask! Thanks Lisaby lisa - Halkidiki
Re: Tropical Hotel, Hanioti - 16 years ago
lisa, I've been in touch with Vicky and she has said they are not dealing with either next year, but is going to tell me the whole story when I go next Monday. I will post on here when I get back and let you know what is going on. As for my booking, as soon as I have seen Vicky and Sakis and come back I will be going into the Thomas Cook shop and finding out about getting my money back I hby lisa - Halkidiki
Re: Tropical Hotel, Hanioti - 16 years ago
Lisa1212uk i have already booked with Thomas Cook for next year, it might be best if you go into one of the shops or give them a call as they don't always have availability on the website. I hope they are not pulling out next year or I will not be happy with them! What did Vicky and Sakis say about pulling out?by lisa - Halkidiki
Re: Restaurants/ Tavernas - Recommendations pls! - 16 years ago

Vicky Apartments, Hanioti - 16 years ago
Hi All, am after some information about the Vicky Apartments. Anything you can help with would be appreciated. Its just the apartments I am interested in as I have been to Hanioti before and know the area, but I usually stay in the Tropical Hotel but could not this year. Hi Michael, I go to the Vicky in less than four weeks and have never stayed there before, i usually stay across the road in the tropical. Am just trying to lighten the load in my case! also, what kitchen equipment do they have? I have no intentions of preparingby lisa - Halkidiki
Re: Policrono - 16 years ago
You can walk alone the beach road from Polichrono to hanioti, it would take you roughly 30 - 45 mins depending on how fast you walkby lisa - Halkidiki
Re: Exchange Rates - 16 years ago
LOL David i may just try that! Somehow I'm not sure it will work though! Think the best I have been quoted so far is 1.227 online but gota couple weeks yet so maybe it will rise a couple more cents, can live in hope! thanksby lisa - Halkidiki

Re: Easy Jet to Thessaloniki - 16 years ago
Hi Alanapp in my opinion speedy boarding is not worth it, yes you get called first to boardm, but if you are at the airport early enough you can get the first boarding call, which is just after speedy boarding and still have the pick of the seats as not a lot usually take advantage of speedy boarding, you certainly can purchase food and drinks onboard the aircraft, usually sandwiches, crispby lisa - Halkidiki
Re: Local Olive Oil - 16 years ago

Re: Ideal place to stay in Halkidiki? Help please!!!! - 16 years ago
Hanioti is fairly lively, lots of bars and restaurants but no nightclubs. Most of the "action" is situated around the square, an ideal place to sit and people watch whilst enjoying a few drinks on an evening. There is also a beach bar down on the beach which is open 24/7 in high season, they have floodlights over the water. I would not say it is really commercialised, obviouslyby lisa - Halkidiki
Re: Ideal place to stay in Halkidiki? Help please!!!! - 16 years ago
Suggest Afitos, its a small traditional village situated at the top of a very steep hill and has great views from several of the restaurants. I went there around 10 years ago and loved it, it was quite quiet although does liven up in august. there is a lovely walk along to Kalithea for shopping. Highly recommended. Hanioti is another fantastic resort much more lively than Afitos and mby lisa - Halkidiki
Re: Tropical Hotel, Hanioti - 16 years ago
Cazz and Barrie Don't think that Thomas Cook are pulling out next year, I have already booked with them! So get yourselves booked up again! lolby lisa - Halkidiki
Re: WEATHER IN HANIOTI IN MIDDLE SEPTEMBER TO END - 16 years ago
Jo Jo It will be a lot quieter obviously but most places will still be open. Especially on the main square. I don't go until 29 September and know it will be very quiet by then but that suits me fine for this year as I just want to chill out and catch up with friends.by lisa - Halkidiki
Re: Tropical Hotel, Hanioti - 16 years ago
Gareth, Suggest you contact Vicky and Sakis direct at the hotel, not sure they will read this website. their email is info@hoteltropical.gr.by lisa - Halkidiki
Re: Just back 3-7-08 - 16 years ago
Thanks Steve Suspected the prices would have risen, due to the credit crunch and bad exchange rate. Guess will have to take a bit more cash with me! Lisaby lisa - Halkidiki
Re: fanis - 16 years ago
The airport for Polychrono is Thessaloniki and it will take between 1 - 2 hours to get there, dependant on how many stops your coach makes. But the time will pass really quickly especially once you are travelling next to the coast! Have a great time!by lisa - Halkidiki
Re: Just back 3-7-08 - 16 years ago

Am heading back to hanioti at the end of September and cannot wait! Absolutely have fallen in love with the place, its magical, and am booked for next year as well!by lisa - Halkidiki
