General discussion and questions about Halkidiki.
Re: Vourvourou or Olympiada - 12 years ago
We stayed in Vourvourou in July 2 years ago and loved it. It's very laid back with a few good tavernas and masses of holiday accommodation! The beach is very long but if we weren't off sightseeing we would only go to Karidi beach which is absolutely stunning, beautiful white sand and perfect for little ones as the sea is very shallow and calm. Vourvourou is a very long resort and although we weby duffi - Halkidiki

Hi Sakis great to see your weather reports again but glad it's not too warm over there just yet!! No Greek fix for us this year sadly just Disneyland Paris for a few days - I'm really going to miss the beautiful sunshine and the noisy Cicadas! Hope you've had a lovely peaceful winter and wishing you a wonderful summer season. Lots of love Diane, Rich and Harry xxxby duffi - Halkidiki
Re: Animal cruelty THROUGHOUT GREECE - 13 years ago
Wow - well said Athena I completely agree with you 100%. We love Greece and have been there every year for the last 20 years but I have to say it completely breaks my heart when we see the animal cruelty that takes place! I can't bear to see the poor horses, donkeys, cows etc tethered in the middle of a field with no shade or water and I really find it hard to understand the mentality of the majoby duffi - Halkidiki

Thank you Sakis for a fantastic night on Saturday, you are the perfect host and we had such a great time - it was the best way to spend our last night and it was definitely well worth the long drive from Thassos - I think Harry will remember it for a long time Good luck for the rest of the summer and hope to see you all again one day Love Diane, Rich and Harry xxby duffi - Halkidiki

Thanks Sakis - I was so looking forward to seeing you again but I guess you're going to have a wild night on Saturday so totally understand that you might be suffering a little bit Would love to see you though but I think we're a little too far away for a drink this year - unless you fancy a day trip to the beautiful island of Thassos Weather looks great and thankfully no thunderstorms - we toby duffi - Halkidiki

Re: Holiday in Sithonia - 15 years ago
Hi Deb I can't really help with the accommodation but we stayed in Vourvourou last summer and used to go into Nikiti to use the cash machines and to do our shopping. Vourvourou is a very scenic seaside resort with about 6/7 tavernas and a few supermarkets. It is quite a busy resort with lots of holiday apartments nestling among the trees along the seafront. The backdrop of the tree covered hilby duffi - Halkidiki

Re: Sithonia - any one been / going this year? - 15 years ago
Hi - we did drive around the whole peninsular and found some beautiful beaches. Armenistis is a must see it is simply stunning - don't be put off by the fact that it's surrounded by a campsite it's beautiful with the most gorgeous colour sea and was one of our favourite beaches. We didn't like the fact that we had to leave our driving licence at the gate but it was ok and we got it back easily whby duffi - Halkidiki

Re: Sithonia - first time need advice - 15 years ago
Hi Paula We went to Vourvourou, Sithonia for the first time in July this year and had a wonderful holiday. It's very much a holiday area with lots of small studios, apartments, hotels, tavernas and supermarkets strung out along the very pretty coastline. Karidi beach at the far end of Vourvourou is simply stunning and we also liked Livari lagoon - if you go the home page on this website and seby duffi - Halkidiki

FANTASTIC SERVICE FROM SAKIS AT KRIOPIGI CARS - 15 years ago
Hi Everyone If any of you are thinking of hiring a car for all or part of your holiday then I thoroughly recommend Kriopigi cars. The service we received was fantastic - probably the best we've ever had! Sakis is one of the nicest people you could ever wish to meet and he was so helpful. We picked the car up at the airport which was so easy and as we'd never been to Halkidiki before Sakis evenby duffi - Halkidiki

We're really looking forward to the 6th July and hope to visit you in your restaurant some time during our holiday. (How many kms are you from Vourvourou?) Thanks Beppe - the Royal tombs of Veghina sound intriguing might have to look that up on the internet! We were also thinking of going to Thassos for the day - is this possible does anyone know how long the drive to the ferry is from Vourvourou?by duffi - Halkidiki
Re: More info on Sithonia - please! - 16 years ago
Hi Beppe Thank you so much for your replies you've been really helpful - I'll make sure I write down all the things you've said so I don't forget while we're there. We'll be booking a car from Thessalonika for the whole holiday and will be happy to drive around exploring the area. We're going on the 6th July for 17 nights will it be really busy? - I know lots of the Greeks and Italians like yby duffi - Halkidiki
More info on Sithonia - please! - 16 years ago
Hi Everyone We're coming to Vourvourou for the first time in July having never been to Halkidiki before. We booked really cheap BA flights with every intention of going back to Thassos but then we found Sithonia whilst browsing the internet and as it looked so gorgeous we decided we would just have to try it. I found lots of accommodation through Halkidiki.com (great site thank you) and amby duffi - Halkidiki

Re: Vourvourou Sithonia - 16 years ago
Hi Maggie Many thanks for replying. We have now booked our flights and have decided to do 7 nights on Thassos and 9 nights in Vourvourou. It sounds as though it's just what we're looking for and as we'll have a car we'll definitely explore the whole peninsular including Ormos Panagias. I've had a look at your sisters website and will certainly think about a day trip on their boat as it sounds lby duffi - Halkidiki
Vourvourou Sithonia - 16 years ago
Hi We're thinking of going to Vourvourou next summer and would appreciate any information on the area. We've been to mainland Greece before - Parga and Gialova nr Pylos and now tempted by the scheduled BA flights to Thessalonika would like to try Halkidiki. We've chosen Sithonia as it looks quieter then the Kassandra peninsular and Vourvourou simply because it has some stunning beaches. We'veby duffi - Halkidiki
