Re: for sale with regrets - 13 years ago
Hi Ann, Fourka is not the place it once was, I could go on all day with things that have changed , no Australia hotel for one thing . Tassos opened his new bar opposite vrosis supermarket but the only tourists this year were eastern europeans with no money to spend. George works over in Hanioti and Akis who worked with him has his own resturant in Mola Kaliva. Come over by all means but be preparby buster - Halkidiki

Hi AJ, missed your post under Jimmy's bar but just had a look and found it. It's been a quiet season all round for the business trade and have not seen many of the old faces around this year and miss having a good time with them. Tassos has taken over the pool bar at the Australia but with most of the guests being Romanian I think it will be a strugle but that's the same all round without the Brby buster - Halkidiki

Hi jeff, Nikos has not been in the Yiamas for over a year, it was run by russians last summer, but the resort is full of them. I will try and find out where he is and get your message to him though. All the best busterby buster - Halkidiki
Re: Jimmy's bar Fourka - 15 years ago
Hi Ann, Tassos wont be open this year, Jimmy will be covering the area Tassos had plus the pool bar. I think Fourka has too many restaurants for thew amount of people for such a short season and with the Julia being all inclusive they never leave the hotel. The new bar is really big and well done out you will enjoy it if you are out this year and you are right we need more British back. Had a drby buster - Halkidiki

The euro - 15 years ago
I think that unless things change for the better this coming summer we will see a big decrease in the amount of British tourists visiting countries in the euro-zone. Also a lot of ex pats like us that receive a pension from U.K. may have to think long and hard about returning to U.K. as my pension has lost 30% of it's value in the last couple of months, 6 years ago we were getting 1.62 to the pouby buster - Halkidiki
Re: fourka - 15 years ago
I think some of the people who are adding to this thread are living in cloud cuckoo land. I have lived here for 7 years and I am afraid Fourka is dying. The resort is now full of eastern Europeans who spend no money in the bars and restaurants, they come by coach and stop at Lidl in Kalithea on the way here to top up with food and booze. All the hotel bars are dead, Jimmy's is surviving but ex paby buster - Halkidiki

Hi Jane, Chris and me moved here permenantly six years ago, we live in Fourka village so we have neighbours all year round. The first year here we stayed in an apartment in Fourka beach and it is very quiet, the village life suits us fine as we are both from citys, Chris Newcastle and me Liverpool so this is our ideal style of life, just us and rocky the dog, all our children and grandchildren cby buster - Halkidiki

Hi Julix, The Australia hotel does not deal with any agents in the U.K. but he usually has rooms available at either end of the season. If you want to stay there drop a line to Jimmy Samaras C/o Australia hotel, Fourka beach, Halkidiki, 630 77 Greece. and Jimmy will send you an email with details if you put it in your letter. Hope this helps Buster Fourka villageby buster - Halkidiki

Hi Jane, My wife Christina and me live in Fourka village, not the beach but the village itself. We have our dog Rocky a large german Shepherd, he is getting on with the pups for now in small doses but it would be a different matter if they were here for any length of time. Julie will be taking them tomorrow, I went up to see her on Monday and she does a fantastic job there and needs all the helpby buster - Halkidiki

I have put a photo in the gallery of the pups I found in the river, how could anyone abandon these two little things, I am sure Julie will find them good homes.by buster - Halkidiki
Re: Remember the abandoned Fourka innocents... - 16 years ago
Have found two abandoned pups in the dry riverbed this morning, a beautiful pair, we will be looking after them for a week until Julie has room for them, can't keep them any longer as we have a very large anti social German shepherd who will tolerate them as pups but not when they get older.by buster - Halkidiki

Hi Mudo, The Litsa is no longer a Thompson hotel this year, but you can still book private if you have a contact number for Yiannis Samaras. If you need his number let me know. Hi joe glad you enjoyed the singalong, all the best Busterby buster - Halkidiki

Hi Jeff, Marian and Ste, Will pass on your message to Thomas Marian.Jeff tell me where you buy your petrol, at the moment I pay 1 euro per litre which is just over £3 a gallon by my working out i.e 68 p per litre still a lot cheaper than U.K. i believe though. Hi Marion Jeff and all the friends of Fourka, I have lived here for getting on six years now and have seen the sad decline in the number of British visitors due to Thompson pulling out bit by bit, next year none of the hotels have a contract but all will be taking private bookings. Vicky is still working at Jimmys but I don't think she is married yet. A couple of our friends who are here at theby buster - Halkidiki

Hi Joe, a few places have sky sports, Jimmy's for one. I will be watching Widnes hopefully beating Cass. tonight. The kick off will be 9-30 our time so just go to the bar and ask illia to put the match on for you. Re: going to fourka, whats to do? - 16 years ago
Hi greavsy, there are strikes going on at the moment with post offices, social security and other government workers but they are 24 hour strikes and usually on a Tuesday and don't affect the Thompson flights. I went down to the Evridiki yesterday and the rep never mentioned any problems or any of the guests. Weather still roasting. Busterby buster - Halkidiki

Hi Greavsey, the first batch of tourists seem ok so far but as usual on the first night they were all in for an early night as they all had been traveling since 3 am. Hi Jeff, our first batch of tourists arrive today and it's 29 degrees so it's a nice welcome for them. Transfers may take a bit longer at the moment as there is a diversion on the main road Thessaloniki - Halkidiki its not too bad coming to Fourka but going the other way you have to go through Nea Triglia which is a pain as I have to do the journey every day for the next three weeks. Re: going to fourka, whats to do? - 17 years ago
Hi Joe, it is Thompson that allocate the rooms, but Yiannis and his wife Evi are great and will sort out any problems that you may have, just ask them, they both speak good English unless you have a broad Glaswegan accent they will understand. Don't wait to tell the rep they forget. The rooms Thompson dropped were probably the best ones but they overlooked the road into Fourka and in high seasoby buster - Halkidiki
Re: going to fourka, whats to do? - 17 years ago
Hi Jeff, I am not sure what nights we will be doing the Quiz and Karaoke yet but I will let you know when I have had a talk with Yiannis. It will be good to see it all open again, from October to May the beach area is a ghost town, the people who live down there are mainly Russians, thats why I live in the village, but I never speak English throughout the winter. Re: fourka - 17 years ago
Hi Jeff, Jimmy is not open yet but will be when you get here. The bar is outside now by the pool and the old bar is the hotel reception. In low season you need a fleece to wear round the bar as it gets a bit chilly at night, or maybe I have gone soft living out here for so long. Re: going to fourka, whats to do? - 17 years ago
hi joe, the waterworld is closed until mid june as the pools are not heated, it's 100 Km from Fourka and not worth the journey. The beach had been cleaned for the start of the season and will be done every 2 weeks. If you want any info when you are here just see me at the bar in the Evridiki, I do a quiz night and a karaoke night every week in the bar but its up to the guests to enjoy themselvs.by buster - Halkidiki

Yiasou Jeff, all the roads are still open, the one from the square to the Aquarius has been worked on and back filled and of course the tractors are churning it up so there is a lot of loose debris around, dodgy for people hiring mopeds. All the roads in the three villages Fourka, Kalandra and Kassandrino have been back filled but no tarmack so it is grotty at the moment. No dogs have been poisby buster - Halkidiki

Hi Joe, I work a couple of nights a week at the Evridiki and I am sorry but the night club only opens in high season or on greek bank holiday weekends. Hi Jeff, My wife and I have lived in Fourka for five years but in the village not the beach. We holidayed here for many years before that and remember when all the hotels were full of fun loving Brits every summer. This year there is only Aristides full and Evridiki and Julia at 50% as Thompson has dropped the rest.
