Just read Kathimerini on line and see there are fires in Corfu and Halkidiki? Anybody got any news on where the fires in Halkidiki are? I know it is a large place, but I would like to know more. Thanks. Jane

We drove around the whole of Kassandra today from Nea Potidiea down and round to Mola Klava (sp?) up to Nea Moundania and didn't see a thing so really not sure where they are, didn't see the Fire Planes either. Also havent heard anything yet via local gossip will let you know if I hear anything, wish you were here for a beer!! meet up someday!

Dear Jane,

as far as i know there was a small outbreak of fire in Sithonia last Thursday or Friday, caused by lightning during a storm. Four firefighting planes arrived and the fire was brought under control in a couple of hours thanks to direct intervention of the local volunteer group of firefighters and fire department. No damadge was done.
