You could try Hanioti Village, its far enough away from the town centre to be quiet, but near enough to be handy for Masoutis, beach,bars etc also its a nice place to stay, as the staff are Greek/Australians...from Hanioti you can explore by bus (they run on GMT, thats Greek Maybe Time) Thessaloniki is about an hour away, Petrlonas caves Olinthos, Edessa, Veroia, Pella all within striking distance if you hire a car...the hospital at Poligyros, if you hire a motorbike or Quad!!! Its GREAT here!

my wife and i are planning 2 week holiday in august 2009. going to fly in to thassaloniki airport. then where should we go ? we have been to a few greek islands in recent years and love them all.
we fancy quiet location ,but near to tavernas, a small villa or self catering with shared /own pool would be good,
anybody got any suggestions on where to stay, even names would be much appreciated
