Hi,

I'm going to Hanioti on Mon 9th July and I've just read about fires that have started in the last few days. Are they up and around that area or are they mostly down by Athens?
I've also read about blackouts around thessalokina - are these affecting the airport?

Any info would be appreciated.

There are no fires in Halkidiki.
As for the blackouts, they can not affect the airport. All airports have power generators.

There are reports on the BBC website of fires across Greece, main one near Athens.

Thanks for the bbc link - we're arriving on Thursday next week, and according to that report forecasters predict another heatwave next week.
At least the sea should be warm, and we won't need to pack any sweatshirts lol

The sea is nice and warm...water temp currently 27c.
