hi again,
we not getting married till may 08 but we started getting docs sorted already,
firstly you need to send copies of
BOTH BIRTH CERTS [FULL VERSION]
ADOPTION CERTS[ if applicable, with short birth cert]
DIVORCE PAPERS[if applicable]
CERTIFIED COPIES OF BOTH PASSPORTS [ make sure the solicitor signs and prints their name and position in firm and name of firm personally!!]
DEATH CERT AND PREVIOUS MARRIAGE CERT [if widowed]
NAME CHANGE [if applicable, must be stamped and signed by a solicitor on headed paper]
copies of above docs must be sent to weddings dept[ we using first choice]
originals must be taken or sent to foreign & commomwealth office to be legalised [£27 per doc]
ADDRESS
THE LEGALISATION OFFICE
THE OLD ADMIRALTY BUILDING
THE MALL
LONDON
SW1A 2LG
when these are returned,[4 to 5 weeks] copies must then be sent to weddings dept, and originals sent off to be translated[ approx £30 per doc excluding passports]
these docs must then be sent to the greek embassy for legalisation[ approx £ 14 per doc we have been told]
13 weeks b4 you return home you have to get a cert of no impediment each from your local register office and have them legalised, translated then legalised again [very tight timescale, think we are going down to london personally for that bit]
copies of all docs must be sent to wedding dept 8 weeks b4 your holiday.
what area are you from? we from notts
hope this helps, if you want to send me a PM i can go into more detail
mandy xx
