I have just had a lovely week in Fourka (24th Sept - 1st Oct) I thought it was a very nice little place, though bigger than I was expecting. We met with the Greavesies and their party (still there, lucky b*****s!) and realised that the Aristides was far superior to the Julia Studios though Julia's does have a lovely location on the hillside it's a bit of a drag home when you're tired (drunk?)by Nightowl - Halkidiki

It would appear that Spring was on the Kassandra peninsula at the same time as me ( 24th Sept to 1st Oct) and I can't believe what he/she is saying about the weather. We were in Fourka, not far from Pefkohori, and thought the weather was very good for September. Ok, there was a bit of hazy cloud on a couple of days but it was still lovely and warm, even in the evenings (no need for jumpers or jacby Nightowl - Halkidiki

Thanks Jeff. You're a mine of information. You must really love Fourka sooo much to keep logging on here when you haven't got a trip there lined up. Hope you manage to get back out there soon before you burst with frustration!!!! Take care. L xby Nightowl - Halkidiki

A week from tomorrow we'll be in Fourka!! But just had a thought. We will want to take as many ciggies as possible home with us. How many supermarkets in Fourka, and how big are they? Does anyone think we'll have to go somewhere bigger for large quantities of cigs? If so, where??by Nightowl - Halkidiki
Re: Halkidiki/Polichrono - 16 years ago
Polichrono is an island??? I never realised that, nearly booked to go there. So do you have to get a boat every time you want to go elsewhere in Halkidiki?by Nightowl - Halkidiki

Hi all. Less than 2 weeks now!!!!!!! As this is our first visit to Halkidiki, and it should still be daylight when we travel down from the airport, what's the coach trip like? Is it boring, or are there any interesting things to look out for on the way?by Nightowl - Halkidiki

Re: fires - 16 years ago
I have seen on the news that there is an area of fires to the SE of Athens, and also on the island of Evia, which is a lot closer to Halkidiki than the Peloponnese, where the main areas of fire are. The news from there is terrible. 63 or more people dead and so many villages destroyed. So sad, a tragedy for such a beautiful region. To think that someone may have done it deliberately is almostby Nightowl - Halkidiki

Re: fourka - 16 years ago
Hi Jeff, and others who seem to know a lot about Fourka. Just booked this morning to go on 24th Sept, to Julia's for a week. First time in Halkidiki, tho been to Greece a lot. What's the weather likely to be like? Good enough for a tan? Any tips for a pair of 50-something Halkidiki virgins? We like drinking, eating and being lazy. Enjoy a bit of history, boat trips, seeing what's worth gettby Nightowl - Halkidiki
