Hi Jane Kim here, Ive been in contact, as much as work allows, with Julie and the rescue centre. I made a suggestion, just to start the ball rolling on fund raising, about my creating a calendar. She liked the idea. So, now Ive made a couple of dozen calendars which Im hoping to sell between myself and putting on ebay (yes, im now an ebayer...for good reason of course). Re: KILLER PLASTIC CARRIER BAGS..... - 16 years ago
Sounds to me the authorities are just lapsy dazy in implement laws, just like the laying down of poison. As I state in another thread, they want the euros spent by tourists, through the local businesses, but won't do anything about anything.by yorkshire lass - Halkidiki
Re: KILLER PLASTIC CARRIER BAGS..... - 16 years ago
I find that when the out of towners head to Fourka, for the weekend (every week) the amount of rubbish dumped on the beach is unbelieveable..plastic bags, disposable nappies (not disposed of properly, more plastic bags, drinks bottles buried half way in the sand. Why do I say out of towners, because they tend to use a certain stretch of the beach away from where the tourists are hiring the sunbedsby yorkshire lass - Halkidiki
Re: Polichrono Mozzies ?? info please. - 16 years ago
Sorry, all I can tell you is it is in a small, but not too small about 100ml, white plastic bottle. It is a Greek product and as GERANIUM on the front. Now I know why my friends have Geraniums growing all around the apartments they own. Another tip, upon arrival at my apartment I close all windows and doors, every evening included before going out, and turn the airconditioning on to the cby yorkshire lass - Halkidiki

Emma Thank you. We were planning on going out in september, usually last two weeks, also. In fact we told Yiannis (he's a lovely friendly lad) to expect us, it doesn't look like its possible (work factors). Anyway, next year as usual. Have a lovely time, it should be just a lovely suntanning (but not overbearing) climate at that time. Kimby yorkshire lass - Halkidiki

Well done, Greavsey. That's the whole point about holidays, let someone else do the washing up. And, its cheap to eat out, well I think so, especially as many of the places not only serve the food ordered, but the food they like you to try. And, there is so much choice its unbelieveable. KILLER PLASTIC CARRIER BAGS..... - 16 years ago
In the seas of Greece, TURTLES swim as many species of wildlife. And, in certain regions the greeks are highly protective of the TURTLES, when laying eggs are occuring. However, when the TURTLES are in the sea the real danger is PLASTIC CARRIER BAGS. These are the one of the biggest threats to both the TURTLES and many marine life. The main food source of TURTLES is jellyfish. When a plastiby yorkshire lass - Halkidiki

Nappy Sacks are an absolute must, even in the handbag. I only ever come across them in packs of 500, so leave them (hopefully) for the next guests. With regards to the hole in the floor, I think that is for the purposes of people of certain religions, not having to touch bodily areas as its unclean. Another tip, those endless plastic carrier bags handed out at the supermarkets. If you are gby yorkshire lass - Halkidiki

Oh dear, now it would seem the city council of Dublin are into victimization of certain breeds of dogs. The Dog Trust (UK) is urging everyone who is an animal lover to sign the petition against destroying these pets, if owners are unable to find homes for them. If you are interested in signing the petition its at www.petitiononline.com titled 'CITIZENS AGAINST DOG BAN' it now has over 14,0by yorkshire lass - Halkidiki

Mozzies were 'sucking' well back in june. My bestest friend (he is now after saving me from the little blighters) Dimitri rescued me with a spray he uses. It's made in Greece, and is a geranium spray..on me it worked whole lot better than the citrus spray.by yorkshire lass - Halkidiki

There seems to be an influx of abandoned pups at the moment. One was found 10 days ago, on the beach, with only hours to live. Why oh why don't the owners, for once, just act sensible and responsible and get the bitches/dogs operated on to stop the puppies. It beggers belief on how these peoples minds work, it really does. I know Julie will help you out, even though she is totally stretch oby yorkshire lass - Halkidiki

Hello Halls2210 Every little helps, thats what I say. I agree, there will always be problems with strays. It just seems that the people who cause this suffering are either totally ignorant, never heard of the op to stop unwanted pups/kittens, or downright heartless. I would imagine your friends despair at the attitude of others, having come across rescuing abandoned animals. Just aby yorkshire lass - Halkidiki

Good News everyone.... If you recently read the topic about the abandoned dogs in Fourka, and ways to make donations. Well, GOOD NEWS, one of the dogs has recently been adopted and taken to his new home in AUSTRIA. He is truly one of the lucky ones, as he has only been on the streets of Fourka since May.
