Re: Does anyone know? - 17 years ago
Nah, it should be fine then. Like I said, there was a lot of rain but it all dried up in a matter of hours. The storms over there are really exciting tho! lots of light and noise. BJby bj - Halkidiki

hi gary. The transfer time for us last week was around 1.5hrs. Not stayed at either of those hotels, but the whole area is really quiet. The aristidis & kaneilis hotel is a nice place to stay. really relaxed with nice owners and a nice pool. Cheers. BJby bj - Halkidiki
Re: fourka - 17 years ago
Just got back from Fourka on the 28th Aug. We were there at the period of the Fires and the storm, so I think we were a bit unlucky as far as experiencing the 'real fourka'. We couldn't take any of the Thomson excursions as the rep was snowed under trying to evacuate hundreds of tourists from the other side of the peninsular. Also, most of the boat trips left from the other side as well whereby bj - Halkidiki

That would explain the Thomsons plaque on the wall behind the pool table then ...by bj - Halkidiki
Re: Hotel australia - 17 years ago
Hey. Just got back from Fourka. I'm sure I saw a Thomsons sign in the bar area behind the pool table in the Australia. don't know how old it was tho. Cheers. BJby bj - Halkidiki
Re: Flood in Pefkohori - 17 years ago
Left fourka on the afternoon of the 28th aug. Big storm that brough lightning and lots of rain. All gone by the afternoon however. The beach was in a bit of a state due to rain water running down the storm drains as they are supposed to. This, however, should be cleared by now with a bit of sunshine and a good breeze. On the transfer back from Fourka to thessaloniki, we saw no evidence of massby bj - Halkidiki
Re: Flood in Hanioti - 17 years ago
Just back from Fouka. We left there on the 28th Aug. There was a big storm in the morning that brought lots of rain - more than they had had in 2 months apparently. However, it had all dried up in fourka by the afternoon. Unless other areas were built on plastic sheeting (!!), there should be no floods at all there now! Calm down. It's not the bloody apocalypse!by bj - Halkidiki

If you're talking about the rains from last monday, then yes it was bad. however by the late after noon, pretty much all the standing water had dried up from the fourka area. we were staying at the Aristidis & kaneilis. Poor stelios was looking very gloomy as the whole area around the pool had flooded! All fine when we left tho.by bj - Halkidiki
Re: Fire in Kassandra - YOUR REPORTS HERE - try to help other people - 17 years ago
Hi. Just got back from Fourka, Staying at Aristidis & Kaneilis. This area has not been touched by the fires at all, so if anyone's planning to head out there - don't worry it's all fine. The only evidence of the fires there is a small amount of black ash washing up on the beach, but unless you were looking for it, you probably wouldn't see it! On the holida, we took the bus over the penby bj - Halkidiki
Re: Aristidis and Kanelis Studios - 17 years ago
Really?! Outstanding Jeff, Cheers! I'm assuming good ol' Thompsons aren't passing on their extra half of the money to Acheilis? Bloody rip off merchants these tour operators! I will definately be following your advice! Thanks again, Jeff. BJ.by bj - Halkidiki
Re: Aristidis and Kanelis Studios - 17 years ago
Hey Jeff. Cheers for the info! I am very far from rich, believe me!! lol. We were planning on having a mooch around the local excursion places to see whats what. Can you reccomend any good/safe/cheap boat trips that can be booked from Fourka itself? I remember from other greek island holidays, always being warned off going with the non-tour operator reccommended tours as they were all uninsurby bj - Halkidiki

Hey Donna. I'm staying at the A&K with my wife from the 21-28th aug. Not been to mainland greece before, but from the sound of it from this site, it should be a really nice, relaxing place. The A&K sounds really good as well! Very friendly staff and locals by the sound of it! I'm not too sure as to what excursions there are, but the thomson website has a good list of things to do tby bj - Halkidiki

Hi Steve. We booked waaaaay back in feb. There were only a few places left at the hotel for the week that we were after. It may be that it's all sold out i'm afraid. When were you looking to go? Bryn.by bj - Halkidiki

Bike/quad hire in Fourka? - 17 years ago
Hi everyone! I was just wondering if there is anywhere in Fourka that hires out mountain/quad bikes? I gather that there is not a massive amount to do there apart from drink and sunbath (sounds good). Are there any good cycle/walking nature trails around the local area that could make for a nice afternoons wander? Cheers. Bryn.by bj - Halkidiki
