when im in greece i use johnsons OFF it can be bought in supermarkets or pharmacys in the villages.
your OK during the day especially on the beach.
but at night we shower before we go out then while naked spray ourselfs all over legs arms body then spray a little on hands and rub face dont get in your eyes will burn.
on returning to your appartment later in the night make sure windows and doors are closed before turning on lights and DONT sleep with windows or Balcony doors open .
Yes it can be hot and stuffy but id sooner be hot than bitten to death.
we also have a mosquito plug that runs 24 hrs a day they do work and also there are special candles with citrus in that you can burn at night while you sit outside.
