Just back from 2 great weeks, stayed at the Ioli village so if anyone wants any inf...

good restaurant is Danny's on the seafront at the north end. The service varies from a bit eccentric to superb but the food is excellent, and much of the seating is on the beach side of the prom.

If anyone is taking car hire i recommend you take out super collision damage waiver, as we did. Somone ploughed into the side of ours one day -it was parked and we were away from it - and I spent severl hours thanking my lucky stars I was only going to have to find 90 euros intead of hundreds. Actually it later turned out that the chap rang and confessed, but peace of mind and all that.....

Karen, hi. Ioli village apartments are I would say fairly basic but spacious and kept clean. The swimming pool is OK, depending on what time of the season you go it can be a scrum for a sunlounger or you can get the place to yourself!

I don't think you need to worry about lorries at 7am. It isn't on a main road. It's on a side road which basically goes nowhere very much - at least for traffic- so there isn't very much. It is about four or five minutes walk from the beach, similar to the centre of the village. There's two big supermarkets just a couple of minutes away which are very handy - cheaper and better stocked than the small, but friendly on site mini market which we use for the odd item. There's a small bar but on site entertainment, such as it is, is forgettable. They also do breakfasts which are quite good if you want one. Anna the receptionist is very friendly.

Pefkohori is a family orientated resort. It's quite commercialised, not exactly pretty (well I don't think so!) but there's plenty of bars, tavernas and so on. Don't miss the old square with the pub style Paul's place and a taverna opposite.

There's one nightclub - Nonos - very close to IV, it's only open twice a week, no idea what it is like as its not our scene.

This year the hills got ravaged by the fire which came very close to the Village but I imagine the starkness of it will have eased by next year. It certainly won't put us off going back.

We hire a car to travel around. We use economycars who advertise on this site, Kriopigi cars are also popular and have a very good reputation.

enjoy your hol, we do!

We've stayed there twice, I think the room numbers were 306 and 315 but I'm, not sure.
They overlook the courtyard. The rooms are the same size wherever you are in IV apart from some suites which are extra cost and include breakfast. Unless you pick this option via the tour operator, you won't be in a suite. I'd probably prefer not to have one of the rooms that back on to the road but that's all.

You won't get much of a sea view from anywhere, or pool view. (The pool is to the side of the complex). The pool is fine, busy at the height of the season, quieter off peak. There's a snack bar there which serves various things including drink.

We take very little with us - all the usual stuff can be bought locally and are very cheap. The kitchen is typical Greece self catering apartments - fridge, a kettle, two rings, a teapot and usually a sandwich toaster - and cutlery/crockery of course. Not much else. But what else do you need?
This year there were Mozzies around, I take a decent mozzie plug in thing, they were cheaper here than in Greece. Sun tan lotion is cheaper here as well. If you drink tea, just about all you can find are Liptons tea bags although we also found some Quick Brew I think it was. If you are fussy, take your own.

If anyone mentions building work, there was building going on just opposite this year and last but we barely noticed it. There was hardly ever any noise. There are a couple of dogs that seem to live
next door and spend most of their time on the street (not untypical of much of Greece) and they could be a bit noisy but it was only a minor irritation. (I always take earplugs wherever I go anyway - better safe than sorry).

Turn right out of the front gate, walk for a couple of hundred yards and you will find yourself in the old square. Quickest way to the beach is to turn left out of the gate, then second right and go through the car park of the yellow supermarket.
