Hi,
Still no reply from Debbie, has she contacted you. It was great to find the Halkidiki sight. We have been going for the last 20 years; are you a regular visitor to Kriopigi, we just got an apartment there last Easter. If you have contact with Debbie would you mention I have sent her an e-mail.
Kind Regards Erica

Hi Erica
Yes Debbie & i are in pretty regular contact,i've also been visiting Halkidiki for 20ish years & very regular in Kriopigi as i've worked a few seasons there for Debs & Ant,i've not heard anything since christmas when they were in Wales so i'm presuming they're either on holiday or having problems with their internet which isn't that unusual through the winter but next time i mail her i'll mention that you've been trying to get hold of her x

Hi there
We have read some fantastic reviews of the Alkion in Halkidiki but just wanted to make sure that if we go in July there is nothing that we are over looking i.e some odd rain season etc.... And also have the bank situation improved, is there now a local ATM?
What are the prices like? We enjoy eating out and exploring the local area so am curious to know if its expensive?
And last thing, we went to Gambia last year and I got bite loads - any good recommendations? Someone wrote about plugins in the room but any further advice?
Thanks all
Vicki x

The Alkion is a very nice hotel, a short walk up to the village on the main road, but a long walk or ride down the hill to the beach. It has nice gardens and swimming pool.
Last year there was no ATM and I don't think that will have changed. There is one in Kallithea, Hanioti for sure.
July should be beautiful. We were there March til Oct last year and from May onwards til mid September it was gorgeous. Can get very hot in July and also quite busy with the Greeks going on holiday too, especially at weekends. Of course, as anywhere in the world nowadays, the weather is more unpredictable and you may get the odd shower or electric storm, and if it rains, it really rains ! but in the summer months not usually for long and it soon dries up.
You can eat out in Kriopigi at either traditional type Greek places, places that serve English food and also specialist like Italian and Greek Coffee Shop. Try Sweet Coffee Shop for coffees, pizza/sandwiches/burgers/salads and wines etc. Try Casablanca for Engish breakfast, coffes, snacks or for a drink. Also in the village square which is set a few hundred yards uphill try Anthoulas for a really different Greek meal (you will not find similar nearby).
There are loads of places to explore outside the more traditional tourist haunts of Hanioti, Pefkochori etc. Try going the other side (we lived there) and see Nea Skioni, Siviris, Loutra etc. Can recommend some places to eat out of the way if you want me to, let me know if you need any more info.

Hi Hystersister
We have been going to Kriopigi for many years now and for the last 2 years we have managed a sneaky extra week in May. Since 2003 there havent been many changes. The people are all still friendly. Knowing them they will probably remember you
The weather is just as warm as in the summer so no worries. If anything it might chill off on an evening so a thin cardi might be beneficial
Hope that helps
Enjoy!

Hello Hystersister
Cant tell you anything about where your staying as I think its a new Thomsons place and only been added this year, we ahve been to Kriopigi 5 years running now and are going back again end of june this year too, we love it there, we went there in mid May our first time and it was a bit unpredictable weather wise meaning out of the 7 days we had 3 of rain but its was low 20's during the day but like it was mentioned before it does still get a bit chilly in the evenings and we found it quite windy too, but if your walking it should be a nice tempreture. As for the village it probably has changed a bit since you were there but saying that it is still one of the quieter ones in the area and plenty of nice small taverna's to eat at along the high street, I recommend personally The Akrpolis, Sakis is the owner and his food is second to none, he also hires cars at a very good rate as I would also recommend maybe hiring a car as well as we found it very useful when we are there, also his Saturday Greek nights are a must if he has started doing them then, Im not sure if your going a week or two too early for that, but if he has started them it is a very good night out, mention Steve from Luton and he will give you a free drink
If you walk up the back to the old part of the village you will find a couple of smaller taverna's which are more traditional and all serve execellent food, If you decided to venture a bit further in the evenings then there are some great restaurants in Polichrono which is the next village along cost about 5 euros in a taxi each way last year then the more livelier village is Hanioti which is the next place along the road which was about 10 euros each way, we found that to go to the villages were about 5 euros per village in a taxi, in hanioti if you like fish then eat at the Stork restaurant just off the main square, its one of the best.
Hope this helps a bit and hope you have a great time, we always do out there.
Anything else you like to know just get in touch and I'll try and help you out.
Steve

Hi
I know Kassandra Bay Hotel well, you will have a great time, Alan and Renata are great people and will look after you well. The restaurants up in the village itself are all very good, the best is up in the old main square at the back of the village away from the main road, Big George owns it and the food is fantastic, If you want a good Greek Night go to the Akropolis along the main road on a saturday night and see Sakis but best to book a table as it can get busy, Mention Steve from Luton and you will get a drink he is a good friend of mine, he also does very good and reasonable car hire, well worth hiring one if you want to get about. Hope you have a great time only wish I was coming too.

Hi Vanessa
Is it the Kassandra Bay hotel you are talking about? If so the season is almost over out there then in october, alot of places close down for the winter at the end of september. I know that Kassandra bay closes around the 09/10/11 everywhere else will be closing down then as well, the weather can be quite cold at that time of year. Shame you cant get out there next month, you would at least have a couple of weeks when most places are still open.
