Vourourou Accommodation - 14 years ago
Hi guys, any suggestion on a good accommodation in Vourourou close to the sea. I'm traveling with my wife and two kids of 3.5 and 1. I shouldn't be far of the sea yet I need smth nice with kitchen and stuff close to the centre of the town. So, any suggestion, as on hakidiki.com/accommodation they all look, pretty much the same? cheers.by vm - Halkidiki
Re: Looking for Studio in Afitos and Transfer from Airport - 17 years ago
Hi Ray. I go to Afitos for quite a while. My suggestion is to contact a nice guy named Pantelis. He owns a place called "Milos Apartments" and the accommodation is OK there. Just write him a mail to milos@halkidiki.com saying that you have the contact from "Vlad from Romania" and that yby vm - Halkidiki

Re: Summer Venue Club - 17 years ago
Platamonas is a bit different. Paralia is bad. Platamonas is ok. A lot to see around that area also. Enjoy your holiday. bye.by vm - Halkidiki
Re: Summer Venue Club - 17 years ago
Hi ! Here are some advises: If you still can, don't go to Paralia Katerini, if this is the Paralia you are talking about. Paralia in greek means beach. you will see a lot of road signs indicating "paralia". I was in Paralia Katerini only in transit towards other destinations in Greece and I can tell you that I didn't like it at all. So, once again if you still can, try Halkidiki.by vm - Halkidiki

Re: Beaches on Kassandra - 17 years ago
Hi Stewart, here is my advise: as you'll have a car there, do the following: you pass pefkohori heading south, you drive up hill until you reach paliouri village. as you enter in paliouri try making a hard left and head to a place named Cape Paliouri. Not too many people (I mean foreigners) know about it and is an exceptional place. You should drive all the way and do not feel lost if the rby vm - Halkidiki

Re: Athens - 17 years ago
Mark, hi, Athens is quite far from the halkidiki area. thessaloniki is closer ( 1 hour driving ), but Athens, I just don't think is realistic. It isn't a city to just jump on plane in the morning and return at dusk. It is an other trip, an other holiday. If you choose Halkidiki, I assure you there is plenty to be seen there as well. Try Petralona, a boat cruise by the Mount Athos, etc. cby vm - Halkidiki
Re: Polichrono Beach - 17 years ago
Hi BB, me again. maybe you will get the chance to rent a car there. yes July can be crowded but driving in halkidiki shouldn't be much of a problem. Thus u can choose your own beach. paliouri has a nice beach but as you'll have a mean of transportation you can circle the peninsula. afternoons are nicer on the west shores and possidi, fourka nea skioni or siviri can be just as nice as polihby vm - Halkidiki

Greeks live longer - 17 years ago
EAT AND DRINK For those of you who watch what you eat, here's the final word on nutrition and health, and it's a relief to know the truth after all those conflicting medical studies: 1. The Japanese eat very little fat and drink very little red wine and suffer fewer heart attacks than the Canadians, British or Americans. 2. The Mexicans eat a lot of fat and drink lots of tequilla and alby vm - Halkidiki
Re: the countdown for Afitos begun - 17 years ago
Thessaloniki is a vry nice place to be. just don't spend too much time on Tsimiski st. lt's harmful for the budget. but if you say that is for the w/e than she will only have Sat. to shop since Sunday doesn't count. As you said that you'll be there for 5 weeks you might just as well take a trip to see the cave of Petralona, in case you have missed that by any chance. It's worth seeing that.by vm - Halkidiki
Re: the countdown for Afitos begun - 17 years ago
you will find this realy enjoyable. have you ever been there before? it's realy somthing although is quite hot this time of the year. you should get yourself something to wonder around the peninsula. like a car or a scooter or something. mobility there, enhance the flavour of halkidikiby vm - Halkidiki

Re: possidi - possidi paradise hotel - 17 years ago
Re: the countdown for Afitos begun - 17 years ago
Maria, you go in 3 weeks !!!!!!!!!!!!!! Lucky you gall. 3 weeks before I go, I'll have my things packed. 2 weeks prior to my departure I shall walk around with my visor and diving fins on. 1 week before my departure I'll be sleeping in the airport in front of the bording desk and when i would wake up i would ask everyone if we're there yet.by vm - Halkidiki
Weather in Halkidiki - 17 years ago
Hi Nikos, hi everybody ! As everyone can see, many threads refer quite often to the weather in our little piece of heaven we all call Halkidiki. I have a proposition to make to the admin and that is to insert a weather chapter as we have on the blue ribbon on top several other things such as e-cards, calendar, etc. There, we can all look on how the weather looks like in the various twons we wisby vm - Halkidiki
the countdown for Afitos begun - 17 years ago
9 weeks to go till Afitos as for today. Being on this forum makes me feel like i'm there somehow. Lucky you all that leave sooner than me. I just love your sweet dilemmas on mosquitoes, sun oils, cash exchange offices, scuba diving, wide screen tv on pubs, etc. can't wait tobe there. cheers everyone.by vm - Halkidiki
Re: Athena Pallas Village/Neos Marmaras - 17 years ago
Neos Marmaras is the biggest resort on Sithonia. It is also very pretty since is hilly and most of the street have a steep bias. It's almost connected with the poshy resort of Porto Carras. The harbour is spectacular and you can get some nice trips sailing from N. Marmaras accross to Palioury beach in Kassandra. I'm quite positive you'll ALL enjoy it to the fullest. Post me back after your returby vm - Halkidiki

Re: meteora - 17 years ago
distance is around 80 km. as for the bus, my guess is as good as anyones. I believe you will have to change the bus somewhere. (nea moudania or agios mamas). I don't know this all that well since I always go by car in Greece for a greater freedom of movement. Ask on this forum on a new thred and maybe some Greeks will reply on bus to Panagias issue.by vm - Halkidiki
Re: meteori - 17 years ago
it is worth going to meteora. it is qyuite impressive. i urge you on to taking this trip. there are local agencies that make this trip. just look in the windows of local travel agencies, local rent-a-car, etc. I know some agencies in Afitos but i'm sure there are also in pefkohori. Trip to Athos I made by boat as I had to have a special permision from the Orthodox Church. As I made the trip bby vm - Halkidiki
Re: meteori - 17 years ago
not realy. they drive you all the way up there but the visit you pay to the monasteries is very much commercial. you have minutes to spend in there, and if you fall behind, the next group of tourists will catch up with you.by vm - Halkidiki
Re: meteori - 17 years ago
it is a one day trip. I made this trip 9 years ago and there are busses leaving early in the morning, and you sould return at night time. price of some 40 euros per personby vm - Halkidiki
Re: Insects/Bugs/Wasps! - 17 years ago
BB, the last time I saw dolphins was when we took a trip off to see mount Athos. The ship would take us from Agios Nikolaos and sail on the shores of mount Athos for about 8 hours. This was as close as I could be from the dolphins. As for the snorkeling, the whole eastern side of the Kassandra peninsula is good for that for it does have very clear water. It is my advice thou, as you'll rent aby vm - Halkidiki
Re: Hanioti - 17 years ago
tony, coming from England, makes Hanioti not expensive. just to give some examples, dinner for 2 will be at around 30-35 euros, service included. a bottle of one pint of beer is 3 euros, a cafe-frappe will be approx 2 euros, 1,5 liters of water is 1.5-2 euros. Any drinks in the pubs will be at a level of 4-5 euros. Indeed, the euro came with some prices going up but as I say, when you pay soby vm - Halkidiki
