Off course hire a car!! Speak to Sakis at The Acroplis Taverna on the main Street, best prices. We have been going to Halkidiki for around 15 years, Afitos has a small sandy beach, you will travel passed Afitos the road and town are way up above the beach, then you will travel through Kalithea. slightly bigger beach again the main town area is way up above the beach, but you can drive down and park easily.Kriopigi is next, again village is up above the beach but you can catch the train taxi down and back from the beach. This beach carries on for miles onto Polichrono, yes we have walked the whole way along the beach but about 5 km. Just south of Kriopigi 400 metres you should bear left onto the old small road and this area the road and sea are level. Drive along slowly and pick your spot, blue sea clear water and very few people!!!! Look out on the right hand side for the fruit and veg stall picked daily and tasting so fresh!!!! Check out the GIAAAAANT TOMATOES. Big as grapefruits!! About 3km and you are in Polichrono. Very busy, lots of sunbeds and umbrellas and Serbs and Bulgarians very few Brits.About 8km further on is Hanioti very much the same busy beach, many shops, last is Pefkohori again busy and shops. If you keep driving out the other side of Pefkohori you will find various bays and beaches, depending if you want music all day with sunbeds or a quiet beach with nothing, this is available! Weekends though will be packed by the Greeks coming down Friday until Sunday stick to local beach Then there is the other side!!! Or even drive over to Sithonia!!!! We usually do but that's a story for another day. Kallispera

Thanks for the info it will be really nice to see these places, my concern over the car was getting from the airport to kripiogi, the shuttle is £90 for 2 people return and a car for 7days from airport is £75 so it should be a no brainer have you drove from airport .

Driving from the airport is not a major problem, your hired car should be waiting for you, ..just go out of the airport, remember to keep right !! straight through the traffic lights, stay in the right hand lane as very soon you will be bearing right... signpost for Kassandra... onto the dual carriageway, same road all the way down to the end of the peninsula..just after Nea Moudania you can stop off for an ice cream, just after you crest the rise. keep on going same road see signs for Afitos (or Athitos) you`ll pass through Kalithea, drop down the hillpast a few hotels, up the rise, you`re in Kriopigi, next big village down another steep hill with a bit of a bend (don`t get caught out by this, it`s a 60mph bend but there`s a bus stop at the bottom opposite the hotel.)... is Polichrono, then Hanioti, then Pefkohori, keep going you`ll be in Paliouri, just before that, on the hill, turn left into Chrousso Village where you can learn to SCUBA dive with Triton Scuba club. next to the Chrousso Hotel. you can walk on the beach all the way from Kriopigi to about a mile past Hanioti, where the marina is(Look on Google Earth )

Hello,

Where did you get the price of £75 for a hire car for a week? I have been quoted 200 euros.
