Re: Beware the "other" forum - 15 years ago
I have always found this one most helpful. Just re-read your first posting and didn't actually read first time that you were banned! That's quite severe action for just having an opinion eh?by Rosemary - Halkidiki
Re: Beware the "other" forum - 15 years ago
Why would you sign up for a forum and then not use it? Most forums are only as good as their posters. If people don't post then the forum becomes quite inactive.by Rosemary - Halkidiki

Re: neriedies hotel hanioti - 15 years ago
The only lack of choice we have is who and where we can fly with and from in the UK. There are more hotels being built all over Halkidiki hence giving us more choice. These prices are totally being inflated by tour operators and in the end they will lose out as people will go to more affordable places.by Rosemary - Halkidiki
Re: neriedies hotel hanioti - 15 years ago
OMG Cosmos prices are ridiculous. 1wk s/c for May 2009 is almost £500!!!by Rosemary - Halkidiki
Re: neriedies hotel hanioti - 15 years ago
I have looked on Thomson, First Choice, Thomas Cook and Olympic holidays . It would appear that none of them are doing Niriidies next year although lots of Bulgarian, Romanian and Serb tour operators are offering them.by Rosemary - Halkidiki

Re: KRIOPIGI, POLIHRONO, HANIOTI, PEFKOHORI. LATEST WEATHER FORECAST - 15 years ago
Last Saturday the temps in Hanioti dropped from high 20s to 13degs overnight. Blankets were needed on the hotel beds and everyone was freezing. I know, I was there and it was just sooooooo cold and wet too.by Rosemary - Halkidiki

Nick @ Horseshoe Bar Hanioti - 15 years ago
I am just a returning visitor to Hanioti and I just love his place. Its all outdoors and everyone chats to each other. Its tucked in beside the exchange shop between Dionysos and Angelo Hotels. He is so friendly and speaks perfect English. He has a beautiful wife and 2 lovely children who interact with the customers. His measures of spirits are huge and serves a really nice selection of cocktaiby Rosemary - Halkidiki

Sarah, if you approach one of the Holiday companies like Thomsons for instance when you get to the airport, if there are seats on the bus, you can pay them for transfers too.by Rosemary - Halkidiki
Re: KRIOPIGI, POLIHRONO, HANIOTI, PEFKOHORI. LATEST WEATHER FORECAST - 15 years ago
Just back from Hanioti tonight and OMG it was cold the past 3 nights. Maids came up and put extra blankets in rooms, all the locals are dressed in their winter woolies......it was sooooooooooo disappointing. You need a jacket for sure at the moment. To hear that it was warmer in the UK was awful for us. It was windy and very wet on Saturday, overcast on Sunday and the same today until we left theby Rosemary - Halkidiki
Re: Prices in Hanioti - 15 years ago
Just newly back tonight and as it was my 4th time there, I found it more expensive this time. I expect its the poor exchange rate thats made it this way. If you like to drink beer then its cheap, wine is also around €2-3. Spirits on the other hand are €5-6 and its mostly local brand for that price. It does include a mixer which is more of a dash, but not once was I ever given a can or bottleby Rosemary - Halkidiki
Re: wembley bar - 15 years ago
I agree Brian. We first met him in his old place and there was more atmosphere in there than his latter place up at the main road.by Rosemary - Halkidiki

XL ceases Trading - 15 years ago
This has been announced this morning that XL have gone bust. I can't imagine what people who are left stranded must feel like. I went with them a couple of years back with Kosmar and almost booked them again to go to Turkey next week. Glad I changed my mind and booked Hanioti with Thomsons.by Rosemary - Halkidiki
Re: weather in October in Hanioti - 15 years ago
Have been in Hanioti in first week of October a couple of years ago. On the beach every day and it only rained once.by Rosemary - Halkidiki
Re: Hanioti---how busy this summer - 15 years ago
To be honest Jo Jo, I have seen it open but I have also been to Hanioti at different times of the year, so can't remember if was September or May. I have been as late as mid October and most things were still up and running. I would say that it will probably be open in September.by Rosemary - Halkidiki
Re: Hanioti---how busy this summer - 15 years ago
Jo Jo I have been twice in September as well as other times, but September is my favourite. Haven't needed air con to get over to sleep and its buy enough without being crowded. Going again on 15th Sept. I too have to travel from Scotland to Manchester for a flight and it also incurs an overnight in a hotel the previous evening as check in opens at 8.20. I still think its worth it to get to Haniby Rosemary - Halkidiki
Re: Kokorretsi - 15 years ago
Can't help you sorry, but for anyone interested, this is what it is..... Kokoretsi is a traditional dish of the Balkans and Anatolia consisting mainly of seasoned lamb or goat offal. Recipes usually include chopped intestines, sweetbreads, hearts, lungs and/or kidneys, marinated in lemon, olive oil and oregano, and seasoned with salt and pepper. Among Greeks, it is traditionally consumed atby Rosemary - Halkidiki
Re: Hanioti Village Hotel - 15 years ago
Many thanks for that shirls&baz. Do you hire a car to get to and from airport then, since you book hotel independently?by Rosemary - Halkidiki
Re: Hanioti Village Hotel - 15 years ago
Oh wow, 11th time, well that says something. I did walk around the grounds 3 years ago when we were staying elsewhere in the resort, but can you give me some info on rooms, entertainment and typical menus please?by Rosemary - Halkidiki

Re: Hanioti - 15 years ago
OMG Sheila!!! Great to hear from you. I have emailed them as I would like to book privately, but I thinks its still too early for them to be opened. I think early May would have a better chance of a response. That's why I was asking if anyone out there at the mo knew if the hotel was opened for business yet. I so much liked it there and would consider a flight only and book the hotel independentlby Rosemary - Halkidiki
