Things to see

  1. Popular architecture: 19th century houses in the village of Agios Nikolaos.
  2. Churches and chapels: The abandoned church of Agia Triada, the churches of Agios Georgios and Agia Paraskevi, and the chapel of Agios Nikolaos, Agios Georgios and Ormos Panagias.
  3. The oldest standing communal fountain, North - East of the village, Tsesma, built in 1626.
  4. Pirgos, with the ruins of the monastery of St. Nikolas of the Golden Arches. 

Cultural events

  1. Knottier: In the second last day of the year, groups of children roam the village singing special carols and receiving sweets and good wishes for the New Year.
  2. Local carnival every first Monday Lent in the town square.
  3. Religious procession (litany) of the holy icons and banners every third day of Easter from the village to Ormos Panagias and back, a distance of 5 km. This ceremony is worth seeing.
  4. The first Saturday of Lent, Saint Theodoros day, a local festival held in Ormos Panagias and a foot race from the village to the local port.
  5. The cultural activities over 3 days, culminating on the 26th of July, Saint Paraskevi's day.
  6. The production of tsipouro (a local ouzo) using traditional methods from mid - October to mid - November.
